GE Commerical Finance Aviation Services Ltd. provides a full range of fleet, financing and productivity solutions to the commercial airline industry. With more than 200 airline customers worldwide, the company owns approximately 1,200 aircraft and manages approximately 300 aircraft for others. GECAS established a wholly owned subsidiary in Shannon in 1993. Shannon is the main operations centre for GECAS’ aircraft operating leasing business and the regional headquarters for technical, legal and information technology services. Accounting, insurance, most contracts administration, aircraft deliveries and receivables for the global business are all conducted from Shannon. The European marketing team is also located in Shannon.

The decision to locate in Shannon was primarily influenced by the availability of an educated and experienced workforce in the locality and the proximity to an international airport. As a part of the HBOS General Insurance group, Halifax underwrites and administers repayments insurance policies for HBOS customers. Repayments insurance protects customers’ repayments on their mortgages, personal loans and credit cards in the event of unemployment, sickness and death.
