In Shannon they process new business applications on behalf of 40 major retailers for store cards and credit options.  Clients in the UK include Harrods, Debenhams, House of Fraser and most recently ASDA. The Irish business is a leading provider of motor, equipment and personal finance, offering the most flexible packages for diverse financial needs. GE Capital Woodchester provides specialized financing and services such as equipment and car leasing, hire purchase, mortgages and loans to businesses and individuals across Ireland, all of which are supported from the centre in Shannon.



GE Commerical Finance Aviation Services Ltd. provides a full range of fleet, financing and productivity solutions to the commercial airline industry. With more than 200 airline customers worldwide, the company owns approximately 1,200 aircraft and manages approximately 300 aircraft for others. GECAS established a wholly owned subsidiary in Shannon in 1993.  Shannon is the main operations centre for GECAS’ aircraft operating leasing business and the regional headquarters for technical, legal and information technology services. Accounting, insurance, most contracts administration, aircraft deliveries and receivables for the global business are all conducted from Shannon. The European marketing team is also located in Shannon.

Halifax Insurance Ireland Ltd (Halifax) is a subsidiary of HBOS plc (Halifax Bank of Scotland plc) which employs over 60,000 people and has assets of £380 billion. With 22 million UK customers it has relationships with two out of every five households in the UK. Halifax opened for business in January 2001 with 55 employees. Continued business expansion has seen the employee base grow to nearly 300, across a number of functions, including insurance underwriting, customer services, operations, claims processing, business development, finance and actuarial, IT and human resources. The decision to locate in Shannon was primarily influenced by the availability of an educated and experienced workforce in the locality and the proximity to an international airport. As a part of the HBOS General Insurance group, Halifax underwrites and administers repayments insurance policies for HBOS customers. Repayments insurance protects customers’ repayments on their mortgages, personal loans and credit cards in the event of unemployment, sickness and death.
